MacWorld: Turn your LPs or Cassettes into CDs [Scripting News]

This is what MacWorld does... rehash articles that MacAddict published years ago, and then try to re-subscribe by force someone like me. I'm still getting email from MacWorld years after I fought with them and cancel my subscription. People, I don't want your magazine, stop writing to me.

Brazilian players shamelessly admit to cheating. The problem with these assholes is that brazilians are normally very nice people, but for most of the world, these cheating bastards are what Brazil stands for... It's so wrong. I hope they get punish, but it is in vain, neither the FIFA nor the technical director of the brazilian team have the courage to punish these cheaters. If Brazil, the country, wants to regain the world respect they have to reject these questionable acts.

In my, never humble, opinion, this is even worse than the F1 fiasco of last month at Austria. This not only affects the sport negatively is all out admitted cheating. The Turkey team should just pack up and leave... For Brazil if they win the World Cup it will be through cheating the smaller, less powerful countries... I hope it doesn't happen, now more than ever.

Italy Gives Ecuador a Not-So-Warm Welcome. Against the tentative Ecuadoreans, Italy made sure it did not repeat the disaster that befell the reigning champion, France. By Ken Belson. [New York Times: NYT HomePage]

People are talking about France's defeat bu Senegal last friday at the World Cup as if it was the end of the world... It isn't a big deal. On the first round you can loose a game (heck, in the second round you can loose a game, but then you go home). I always remind people that the, then, reigning champion Argentina lost the first match against a first time qualifier (Camerun) by the same score of 0-1 in the 1990 World Cup in Italy.. At then end Argentina was in the final, where it lost to Germany, Camerun was not... France can still go very far.

This clearly shows how pro-murder and pro-terrorist the Palestinian authority really is.

Boston Globe.  Students at Williams college build site to evaluate teachers.  The new information flow has irked teachers.  Sample:  >>>Said another about a veteran astronomy professor: ''Completely inaccessible, patronizing and unsympathetic. Why teach if you can't seem to stand students?''<<< [John Robb's Radio Weblog]

I would have love to have something of the kind while I was teaching. On my final exam the last question always was: Write a short essay about this course, it was even worth a few points on the exam! (everybody that wrote anything above a few words got the points). I learned more about teaching from those answers than from anything else. I had a problem with it not being anonymous, having it in the last exam didn't afford any protection to the critics. If I was teaching now I would put a web site (a category in my Radio weblog of course), where students could write their honest opinions about me... I will not separate the current course from past one, so that they would have a real anonymity after a while. It would have been cool!

CNet.  Jakob Nielsen proves you can make money by being an asshole. [John Robb's Radio Weblog]

Excuse my ignorance, but why is Jakob Nielsen consider an asshole?

Where 9/11 News Is Late, but Aid Is Swift. In a solemn ceremony in Kenya on Sunday, a community that only recently learned about Sept. 11 blessed 14 cows being given to the people of the United States. By Marc Lacey. [New York Times: NYT HomePage]

"That guy [~] surely we would have to kill him," Mr. Oltetia, the village's chief warrior, said of Osama bin Laden. "We as the Masai have ways to kill, just using a spear and bows and arrows."

When pressed about his tactics, Mr. Oltetia said: "He's a strong man so we couldn't do it directly. We would surround him in the bush."

Glad to hear the Masai hate Osama Bin Laden. He is such an obvious criminal, that even with the difficulty of explaining the crime, once explained, he is condemned. Osama, go to Kenya, please! (or come to Venezuela).

Italy wins the first game in the World Cup against Ecuador 2-0. An easy game, where Ecuador didn't present much opposition and Italy did minimum effort to win. I don't like the way Italy plays this games, but I have a rule not to argue with success. I am very happy with this. Italy is like my second country, I'm actually trying asking for the Italian nationality...

As usual, an ugly performance by Brazil. They win, but they loose in the heart of the fans. Horrible referee inventing penalties where there were none. But the worst was Rivaldo making tricks to throw out a player of Turkia, which could have won the game. The dream of Brazil is over. Winning like that is loosing.
