The English commentator, when Del Piero score Italy's only goal against Mexico said: "At long last the linesman allows the goal!" Funny.

Just a reminder... 1982..... Italy-Poland: 0-0, Italy-Peru: 1-1; Italy-Cameroon: 1-1
Italy squeezes in as second in the group...... The Final: Italy- Germany: 3-1

A friend tells me that 50% of goals annulled is unheard of in World Cup finals and that he believes 5 is the record in the whole tournament. Italy has 4 in only the first phase... Mind you we are not talking legit goals annulled, we are talking balls that went in and weren't called a goal, fairly or unfairly. So the question becomes Do you believe in statistics? I have to, I'm a mathematician.

By the way, Italy qualifies thanks to Ecuador. Even if Italy had lost it would've qualified, because Ecuador beat Croacia. I guess Ecuador will not go to World Cup Final ever again, if Blatter has his way.

Italy against the referees
Italy ties! Good thing that Mexico qualifies too, they are the best of the group and the rest (Italy, Ecuador, and Croacia) are just a mess.
I do not like Conspiracy Theories but to put a brazilian referee in a crucial game for Italy is too easy a shot not to take. Of 8 perfectly legit goals scored by Italy only 4 made the books, one clear penalty was not called. Yes, Italy is not playing well, granted, and I'm doubtful they'll move very far ahead. But FIFA, Brazil, and Blatter should be ashamed of themselves.
The reason is more economic rather than a hate of italians. Italians did not believe in their team, with good reason it seems, so they didn't go to the World Cup.
My feeling, exposed earlier by my wife, whom I should learn from, and listen to, more often, is that this is just a set up for another brazilian cup. Like in 1994, when Maradona was expelled, they have cleared the way for a final (probably against Spain or Germany)... Is it worth it, when it is so obviously cheating?
