<quote>Newsweek ran a brave and brilliant and terrifying report on the Chechen war. In a deeply moving account of Russian cruelty in Chechnya, it recounted a Russian army raid on an unprotected Muslim village. Russian soldiers broke into a civilian home and shot all inside. One of the victims was a Chechen girl. As she lay dying of her wounds, a Russian soldier began to rape her. "Hurry up Kolya," his friend shouted, "while she's still warm."
Now, I have a question. If you or I was that girl's husband or lover or brother or father, would we not be prepared to take hostages in a Moscow theatre? Even if this meant -- as it did -- that, asphyxiated by Russian gas, we would be executed with a bullet in the head, as the Chechen women hostage-takers were? But no matter. The "war on terror" means that Kolya and the boys will be back in action soon, courtesy of Messrs Putin, Bush and Blair.</quote>

Hmmm. The Republican Corporate Media has basically stopped providing news. Coverage of local election issues has dropped like a democrat falling off a cliff. In turn, the Republican Corporate Media earned a cool BILLION dollars on political advertising.
It's a most remarkable situation. Democrats can't get news coverage for issues. Democrats must pay Republican Corporate Media for advertising time. Republican Corporate Media turns around and donates heavily to the Republican Party. The Democrats are basically subsidizing both the Republican Corporate Media and the Republican Party. This is especially serious since the Republican Corporate Media is even more effective at attacking Democrats than the Republican Party.
So what do you do about that?

Boston Globe says the black turnout in 2002 Florida election was 43%, compared to 55% for non-blacks. In 2000, black turnout was 72%.
If you ask me, blacks in Florida saw the Democrats help sweep the 2000 Republican voter fraud under the table. No Senator complained when Gore gave up without a fight. You would think the Democrats would have organized for two years to get payback in Florida. Look what they did instead! How could Democrats have left it to Reno to run for governor? And what was up with McBride's last-minute coup? And why wasn't Reno McBride's biggest campaigner in the last few weeks?
Democrats need to get their act together. People all over the planet will die because the Democrats haven't stood up to Bush.

Ianachione testified that at a briefing that morning, a county police sergeant and members of the Secret Service had instructed officers to remove anyone carrying signs critical of the president and remove them to a fenced-off ball field far from the main event.Neel wouldn't get behind that fence. He wasn't threatening. He didn't raise his voice. He uttered no obscenities or vulgarities. He simply wouldn't do as he was told when a police officer repeatedly told him to get in the corral with the other protesters. Instead, Neel kept talking about his rights as an American. When he was finally arrested, he went peacefully.
That was the sum of Ianachione's testimony, and Farrell never had to call on Neel or any other witness, because that was all the judge needed to hear. Trkula said Neel's actions did not rise to the level of disorderly conduct. She could have dismissed the charge without even getting into the First Amendment issue, but she couldn't resist.
"I believe this is America," she said. "Whatever happened to 'I don't agree with you but I'll defend to the death your right to say it?' "

Is the SEC turning into a Rove massacre? Good riddance, of course. But will the long, bloody knives flash again? Can they knife staffers fast enough to keep the Harken books cooked?
