News - Article in the New York Times about sweet potatoes, which of course
are a main attraction at Granny Weir's Thanksgiving Day dinners:
http://www.nytimes.com/2002/11/20/dining/20YAMS.html
Comment - I was surprised to learn that American sweet potatoes are neither
potatoes nor yams. Believed to be a native of Central America, they are
closely related to the morning glory, with the same purplish, heart-shaped
leaves. Most sweet potatoes are grown in South Carolina, California and
Louisiana.
News - I'm quoted in the Lansing State Journal this morning in article about
college grads looking for jobs:
http://www.lsj.com/news/business/021122_jobs_1a-8a.html
Comment - I told the reporter that grads should remember that big companies
that have booths at recruitment fairs are not the only places to look for a
job after graduation. Small businesses can be a great place to work, because
you usually report to the owner and you get more opportunities to cross
train and learn new skills.
