News - What's next after the Columbia disaster? This
article is very critical of the job that NASA does:

Comment - NASA, says this article, is far too bureaucratic and does all it
can to freeze private industry (especially small businesses) out of the
space launch business.
Maybe it's time to scrub the Shuttles and develop a launch system that's
cheaper, safer and more reliable. It would help, too, if NASA would
articulate a more compelling reason for having humans in orbit. I think it's
important, if only for basic research on how humans can someday live in
space, but a back-to-the-Moon mission or a Mars mission would be more
compelling than just having a few folks sitting in the International Space
Station.
News -- Here's the kind of observatory I would build if I lived out in the
country: http://www.draytonwoods.com/Observatory%20Phots.htm
Comment - A permanent observatory is nice if you have a big scope, like a 10
or 12 inch SCT. But my little ETX is ideal for taking out to Joe and
Sarah's, or hauling up north.
