I'm reading John Haines', "For the Century's End. Poems 1990-1999" It is simply the best writing I've ever read. Period. Prose or poems.
Here's a snippet from Wounded Life:
Understand that we either grow or die - die inwardly of that unlived life we carry within us like a leaden shadow, a possibility in thought corrupted.
Here's another excerpt, this one is from Another Country:
You saw a wolf loping before you on the ice-road, and a raven that called and spoke to you as it turned in the wind;
and a great tawny cat raking the dead wood of a tree, who looked and did not see you.

As I blog, I'm on the phone with Northwest Airlines attempting to upgrade to First Class for my trip tomorrow to Philly. Of course, the whole process was complicated when Jasper, my cat, stomped across my lap and in moving him, I hung up the phone. Needless to say Jasper got removed from the couch tout suite!
Success - I'm upgraded!

I have been bad about blogging this week - just so busy every night with one thing or another. And then because of my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, I have to make sure I get to bed at a reasonable hour. So blogging gets aced out - so much to do and so few available time slots!
