By the way, note the record temp was in 1969 - I remember that summer. It was the summer of the Swanson River fire on the Kenai - very hot weather and very dry conditions. The fire was huge - the fire fighting agencies were recruiting men (yes, just men - it was 1969 and on the Last Frontier) off the streets in Anchorage.
