Peter and I anticipate being housebound for a good part of tomorrow - The Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon passes right by our house on Westchester Lagoon. Starting at about 9:00 AM thousands of people will be streaming by. We usually can't get out until Noon or 1:00 PM. Which, as I think about it, is when I may actually be out of bed and ready to go somewhere....Still getting over the Rochioli Wine.

Wine of the evening:

2001 Rochioli Sauvingon Blanc  -

Absolutely fabulous - a very rare wine - only 3 cases came into Alaska this year. Very very good.

Delightful dinner this evening at Gisene's with Peter and my long time programming buddy Mark Dougherty. Mark lives in North Carolina but still works for GCI. He's up here on one of his bi-annual visits. Lots of fun conversation - Mark and I are remarkably in tune. Especially amazing since we have such polar opposite tastes - Mark loves Nascar and big muscle cars. I can't stand auto racing and lust after an Audi TT. However, both Mark and Peter think that Paula Zahn is hot.

Wired News - "Webcasters' fees slashed in half" -

Webcasters worried that Internet radio would be wiped out by outrageously high royalty rates found little solace on Thursday despite a ruling that slashed a controversial licensing fee in half.

Yet another step in the dismantling of the "Commons" envisioned by Lawrence Lessig. I am so tired of the warping of copyright law intent. What consumers are left with is a "Boy and His Dog" homogenized culture.
