Lately, I seem to be wandering down some interesting health treatment paths. The latest bizarro trick is the Neti Pot
I have been unable to kill my sinus infection. Antibiotics made a small dent, but they couldn't complete the job. On Monday, I go in for a CT scan to see what's really going on inside the Slat Rat schnoz.
In the interim, my ace chiropractor recommended I try a Neti Pot. When she described how it was used - it's basically a nasal/sinus douche, I was tres skeptical. No matter the oriface, I am not a huge douche fan. But I've had a thundering headache for about a week. So, my skepticism and reluctance took a back seat to the "I'll try just about anything at this point" philosophy.
I did my first Neti Pot treatment this afternoon. I prepared the salt water in the little pot. I then bent over the sink, turned my head to the side, tilted my head downward a tad and then stuck the spout of the pot up my left nostril and started pouring. Immediately, water started coming out of my right nostril - just like it was advertised.
A major frat boy trick if there ever was one!
So, we'll see if this thing actually works. Folks do seem to swear by it.
