We've just rolled in from our monthly book club. This month's book was Gould's Book of Fish: A Novel in 12 Fish. The book is a tour de force - but not one of my favorite tour de force's. I felt it was actually a bit overdone on the language side and it was very aware of itself - an overabundance of conceit.
That being said, the idea was pretty nifty and the fish illustrations were wondeful.
The food at tonight's event was pretty darn spectacular. In honor of Gould's Fish, Dan, a commercial fisherman in his spare time, grilled salmon, halibut, and black cod. Total bliss. Nothing beats Alaskan fish!
