Mom and I had a perfect Mother's Day!!!!
Mom came by the Manse at 2:30 PM. She then opened her first present: the excellent Omron HJ-122 Pedometer. Consumer reports ranked it as the best pedometer out there. Mom got me one for Christmas and I've used it every day since. I absolutely love it. And it is spot on accurate. So, it only made since that Mom should get one from me for Mother's Day.
After we calibrated Mom's pedometer, we headed off to an afternoon of geocacaching. Last year, Mom and I did our very first ever geocache on Mother's Day. Of course, we just had to do it again this year!!!
This year, like last year, we had a great time. Today was absolutely gorgeous: 63 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Our two caches were on the southern end of the Coastal Trail and required a fair amount of walking. Good thing Mom had her new pedometer! There were lots of steps to be counted.
Our first cache was the Coastal Trail Book Exchange. We found that cache right away. However, the second cache, Doggie Cache was quite a bit more challenging. Steep terrain studded by the evil Devil's Club. I stumbled around for quite awhile - finally Mom espied the elusive cache - which was good. I was beginning to poop out.
We hiked back to the car and then motored downtown to Sack's for the perfect post geocaching Mother's Day dinner. A great day!!!
