For the past week or so, Government Hill, my little downtown neighborhood has been home to a young ~2 year old black bear. Government Hill has its fair share of wildlife: moose, bald eagles, porcupines, fox, and even a lynx (in my front yard!!!!). But it has been a long long long time since we've had bear - almost 15 years.
Unfortunately, this bear has become fond of garbage. He seems to show up on trash day and does the whole buffet thing.
We've phoned the bear in to Fish and Game. According to Fish and Game, if our bear continues to munch down on garbage, he'll be darted and shipped off to Fairbanks.
We all agree that getting darted and shipped off to Fairbanks is tough duty.
