Earlier this week, in my post about a bouvier puppy on the way, I mentioned that Peter, Mom, and I also fell in love with Tige (pronouced "Teyeg"). Well, after much discussion this week amongst ourselves and with Judy (the breeder), we decided that we might want to see how things might go with the Tigester. Judy suggested that we "check out" Tige for a get acquainted hike. So, this morning, we showed up at Judy's home at 11:00 AM, loaded Tige in the back of Hubert and headed off literally down the street to the Prospect Heights trail head entrance into Chugach State Park.
We were a little worried about how Tige would do - he hasn't been away from Judy with other folks since he came home from his "adventures" a year ago. But not to sweat, Tige did great!!!! He was an absolute jewel - we walked him on a flexi-lead, so he was always out in front, checkin' stuff out. There were occasional moments when he became a bit concerned - mostly when the trail closed in a bit. Or when we'd turn into the wind - it was quite cold today: 5 degrees with a very brisk wind. Even a big ol' bouv like Tige did not appreciate the chilly breeze.
And Tige is a big boy - 90 pounds. 90 strong pounds. But he's quite good on the leash, never pulled too much - except for those moments when we were on the return leg and he was in "headed back to the barn" mode. Then he tugged a bit, but would immediately let up when asked. A very polite guy!
All in all the outing was a huge success - we did a five mile trip, kept Tige in biscuits the entire way, and all three of us had a great time!
Tige and me - he's such a handsome guy!

Tige and Peter - two very handsome guys!

Tige and me on the bridge. I included this shot because it gives a better idea of Tige's size.
