As I've mentioned in previous years, hoar frost is one the of big up-sides of mega cold weather. The ice fog has been quite thick for the past few days and the hoar frost has really built up - it's a veritable winter wonderland out there!
Mom was out and about today - she came by to visit my new office - and we decided on the spur of the moment to zoom home and take Tige for a walk. It was just too beautiful to be inside - and it had even warmed up a tad. It was very balmy ten degrees. Hmmm...Toasty!!!!
Mom was dressed for cold weather - she had on her fur parky - as distinguished from a fur coat. A parky is hand crafted by Alaskan Natives and is definitely not your Grandmother's fur coat. Parky's are incredible works of art - and very functional.
Anyhoo, I walked in the house and Mom was close behind me. Tige mugged me in his usual giant huge greeting fashion and then he turned to greet Mom. His tail wagged for about a nano second and then he took in what Mom was wearing and stopped short. He stood up tall, stepped back, started growling and then barking. Mom was quite taken aback and immediately retreated back into the garage and closed the door. She then said through the door - "It must be the parky!" Ah ha!!!
I took Tige by the collar and had Mom come in again. Tige started woofing again, but I told him that it was "Grandma" and let Tige sniff around the coat and checkout Mom's hand. That seemed to work well. So, we had Mom come in and out a few more times until Tige was parky desensitized. Whew!!!
After our little grandma startling/doggie training episode, we headed out for our walk. Just a real jaw dropper on the stunning beauty front - as the pictures below show. Those photos would make fabulous Christmas cards!
