This evening, I attended the Municipal Assembly meeting. The Assembly Chambers share a small common lobby with the Wilda Marston Theatre - within the Loussac Library.
Anyhoo, the lobby was mobbed. Three major issues were up before the assembly: an assisted living ordinance, approval of a multi year parks plan, and the budget. So, there were tons of parks supporters - parents, kids, outdoorsy folks, etc. There lots people from the assisted living community. And then there were a boatload of arts supporters attending in support of the arts. And of course, the press was set up with their very bright lights and cameras - all in a very small space.
On the other side of the lobby, there was Tibetan Buddhist display - the Tibetan monk Palden Gyatso was giving a talk in the Wilda Marston Theatre. The folks manning the display were giving demonstrations of various buddhist gongs and horns.
So the overall ambience was pretty cool - all these different people crowed into a small space with gongs and horns and everything else.
Who says diversity isn't entertaining?
