We have a new neighbor! This little gal lives just three houses down from us. But she'll only be staying for a week or two more and then she's headed out to a small farm that's actually still within the Anchorage City Limits. She's 25 days old and has just learned how to drink from a pail. Prior to this she was bottle fed.
Tyge thinks this calf is very interesting. Bouviers are cattle herding dogs. It took Tyge a bit to figure out just what this critter was. But at some point, the genes kicked in. Now he just goes nuts - he wants to herd that calf!
My neighbors were very impressed that I recognized that calf was part Black Angus. Heck, I'm from a ranching family. I know a black angus when I see one! I also know a calf when I see one. When Peter first saw the calf, he thought initially that it was the neighbor's dog. In Peter's defense, the neighbor's dog is about the same height as the calf and is also mostly black with just a little white. And you would expect to see a dog in the driveway, not a calf.
