I seem to be in the midst of a creative period on the Geocaching front. I've just got all these ideas on good geocache locales and themes. Of course, none of these ideas are actually original - instead they're shamelessly lifted from totally nifty caches that I've seen elsewhere. A few weeks ago I set Little Pictures - Anchorage for which the idea was stolen from the San Jose cache, Little Pictures.
For quite awhile, I've wanted to do a cache series on the Coastal Trail Memorials. Anchorage has a very nifty tradition of establishing memorials within the city parks. The memorials can be as simple as a bench or as elaborate as large steel girder arches with an accompanying wild flower garden.
Today, I set my first cache in the Coastal Trail Memorial Series, Hannah Cove. A great memorial - a giant boulder garden next to the Inlet and the perfect location for the first cache in the series. The Ski Boy and I are very pleased with ourselves. The cache container is homemade and although simple, is pretty darn spiffy! Plus it entailed a trip to Home Depot - always an added bonus!
Hannah Cove had its FTF (first to find) within two hours of its initial posting.
Here's Peter and a backend view of Tyge at the Hannah Cove marker stone right after we placed the cache.
