So, the Ski Boy wakes me up this morning at 5:40 AM to ask "You know what sucks?" I'm thinking, "Getting awakened at 5:40 AM, for one."
Peter answered his own question, "The layer of white stuff on the lawn. It snowed last night."
O.k. I know this is Alaska. But May 8th is a little late for the whole snow thing. As I type right now, it's spitting snow. And the mountains all the way down to the hillside are a bright white. There are cars in the parking lot this morning with at least two inches of white precipitation on them.
Mom has this rule of nature observation. The leaves will make it out before Mother's Day. Only twice in the last 40 years have the leaves missed out. This year could very easily be the third year. The are no imminent leaves looking to burst forth. The trees look very brown and cold. Those leaves are really going to have to hustle to make Mom's Mother's Day deadline.
Tyge is wondering, "What's up with the white stuff??"
