While in Buffalo, one must absolutely make the 45 minute pilgrimage across the border up to Niagra Falls. I had a day off yesterday, so that was my day to go for it. To be honest, I was sort of thinking "o.k. I'm gonna go see Niagra Falls. But it's no real big deal". I was actually more jazzed about doing several geocaches in the area than I was about seeing The Falls.
Well, guess what? Niagra Falls are everything they're cracked up to be - and then some. Absolutely overpowering. The roar is amazing. The view is stunning. A complete jawdropper on the power of nature front.
I had an absolute blast. Absolutely magnificent.
This was also the first time I'd been in Canada since 1965 when I was six years old and Mom and I drove up to Alaska. I had a definite blast of fun nostalgia. I do have to say that the Canadian side of Niagra Falls is over the top touristy. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before. But that's o.k. The viewing area for The Falls, is really wonderful. And the mobs of people (on a Monday in May for God's sake) were all having a great time!
Me at Niagra Falls

The Falls. I think even this picture give a hint of the pure power of the raging water.
