Will Nevada Take Lid Off Pot?. A measure to legalize marijuana in the Silver State is being closely watched -- and hotly debated on the Internet -- by friend and foe alike. By Elliot Borin. [Wired News]
I told you’d I’d be watching this story carefully. Obviously, I’m not the only interested party. In this story, a War On Drugs idiot blames the decriminalization movement on the Internet.
Hello? Earth to moron, come in moron? Does anyone remember the ‘70s? There was far more momentum for decriminalization or legalization then, and guess what, you right wing dipshits? There was no Internet then. Care to try another stupid red herring?

RIAA asks court to expose pirate [ZDNet Tech News]
All right, listen up, all of you “Information wants to be free” file trading thieves. For years, now, I’ve been trying to tell you idiots that sooner or later the Powers That Be, in this case the RIAA and the DOJ, will go after individual file traders.
It’s time to take your collective heads out of your asses and look around. They don't care what you believe. The first shot has already been fired. Don’t be a casualty in a war of stupidity.

DOJ to swappers: Law's not on your side. The Department of Justice wants to send a message to the public: "Stealing is stealing is stealing" and is prepared to begin prosecuting peer-to-peer pirates. [CNET News.com]
You know, I’ve been saying, “Stealing is stealing,” in relation to P2P file trading since the day Napster appeared. Which part of “stealing” are so many geek types just too fucking stupid to understand?
Well, it doesn’t matter. They’ll swat clueless asses as readily as those who already know they’re stealing. Bend over, bubba. Uncle Sam has a present for you.

You’ve got to be a truly dedicated thief to trust P2P file sharing software these days. That’s why I posted this after the latest DOJ warning. Watch out, traders. They are coming after you.

The life of the Dead. Band insider Dennis McNally talks about his new 600-page biography of the Grateful Dead, and answers questions about their long, strange trip. [Salon.com]
I’ve known Dennis McNally since 1989. If anyone can tell the real Dead story, it’s Dennis. In my experience, he has always been incredibly knowledgeable and 100% honest. Here’s a recent interview with Dennis from Salon (free article) to promote his new book, “A Long, Strange Trip: The Inside History of the Grateful Dead.”

Hey, maybe, “Polarize the hull plating,” is a phrase we’ll hear for real someday, after all.

PGP is back!. Old hands at new venture [The Register]
Finally! This is truly excellent news. PGP has been rescued from exile at Network Associates by a group of ex-PGP execs and scientists – not Phil, but a lot of his people.
The PGP Website is back online and the release of the much anticipated version 8, mothballed when NA pulled the plug on PGP in March, is expected soon. PGP is now offering pre-orders on version 8 at the reduced price of $70 (single user) for the flagship Corporate Desktop suite with individual components selling for $45.
