I'm not subscribed to Adam Curry's podcasts anymore (nothing personal, I just don't have time. . .), but bits like this are why I still get his blog feeds:

two wolves. Via email from Ira Shoff comes an old Cherokee story of two wolves:

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes
on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between 2 "wolves"
inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed,
arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride,
superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility,
kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his
grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

As Tenshin Reb Anderson said in a workshop this past weekend, Zen stories come in many forms and from many cultures.

Tufte put up a scan of Michael Shermer's recent Scientific American column that draws parallels between Tufte's work and Feynman's. The summation of the goal of Tufte's work: "Simple design, intense content." I like that.

"Literature is news that stays news."

Scoble, the Microsoft blog king, checks in on the blog news from IBM:

and later:

James Snell, who works at IBM, just sent me IBM's Blogging Guidelines.

Sounds good, although I've broken at least three of these in the past two years and now many teams at Microsoft use blogs to communicate news with the outside world, which doesn't seem to be allowed by these guidelines. I guess my style of blogging wouldn't be welcome at IBM.

What blog rules would you enact at your company? What do you think about IBM's? [Scobleizer: Microsoft Geek Blogger]

Personally, I don't want to be in any way responsible for disseminating news from within IBM. There are legions of PR and marketing folks to do that. And I don't want to run the chance of leaking something that shouldn't be leaked. But if something cool is going on that's public knowledge, I might just comment on it.
