Peace Science
Social scientists are crunching a lot of data in order to identify the factors that lead to war. The Correlates of War project is a central element of a discipline known as "peace science." Of course, war is seen as useful by some parties, so the Correlates of War database, due for a major update in August, may be a user's manual for warmongers as much as a roadmap for conflict avoidance.
