A Rave for LaChanze
A great review in the New York Times of LaChanze's cabaret performance: "LaChanze's cabaret debut at the Penthouse, under the auspices of Lincoln Center's American Songbook series, was an ebullient, low-key expression of bonhomie." The print edition had a nice photograph of LaChanze, too.
Free Romenesko!
Almost nobody seems to like the MediaNews redesign. I don't. Poynter says some changes will be made, but now I see that the old URL (linked at left until I change it) doesn't work anymore--you have to use this one. This link disruption is a synecdoche for much that's wrong with the new design--it's all about subsuming Romenesko's weblog into Poynter, not making a great site greater. However useful other Poynter content may be, it's not a daily read like MediaNews. A key element of weblogs is personality, and Poynter has imposed its own bland institutional personality on the site.
