Economists for Dean: Doing the Math
Fiscal Shock and Awe. On Monday, the Senate Appropriations Committee opened hearings into the President's request for $87 billion for the military and for Iraqi reconstruction. Balanced rocks:

I saw these little stacks of rounded stones all over the rocks at Cardiff beach last Sunday. The balance was evident in the placement, form and even color. A surfer kid named Brian was crawling around on the rocks to put them together:

The web has many examples of rock balancing art, but none that I found paid as much attention to the completeness as did these.

As the sun set, the forces of entropy sent the tiny, fragile sculptures back to the sea:

A Message From Joe Trippi
Email from Dean Campaign Manager Joe Trippi:

Dear Gary,

To solve the problems of our nation, the first step is to restore our sense of community. When you join this campaign to take back America, you are not alone. You are joining 417,000 other people who believe that we can build a better democracy.

In the last three days, 13,000 people have joined their voices in a clarion call to the entire nation. Their contributions are sending a message that if enough people believe, Americans can own politics in America again:

Your donation does not stand alone. Your $25 or $100, combined with the contributions of hundreds of thousands of others, will create a noise so loud and so powerful that national politics will never be the same again.

We will wake up hundreds of thousands of Americans -- Americans who believe that we are a nation built on self-government, not on special interests; who believe that our country should be an idealistic moral force in the world; who believe that there is another way to do politics -- and tell them that they are not alone.

Yesterday in Boston, over 4,000 people gathered together to rally for this campaign. Governor Dean called the Boston Tea Party the original grassroots movement in this country. Fifty individuals came together and boarded three ships to protest a king named George who had forgotten his own people in favor of special interests. And together, fifty individuals lit the fire that forged an entire nation.

Governor Dean said, "Our flag only flies because Americans have come together to raise it." When you realize you're not alone -- when you realize all of us are coming together to build the great grassroots campaign of the modern era -- you will believe that together we can and take America back.

Click here to join the 13,000 who have contributed in the past few days and the tens of thousands more who will donate in the next week - your contribution is critical to helping restore a government of, by and for the people.

Thank you for all that you do. Please forward this message to everyone you know.

Joe Trippi Campaign Manager, Dean for America
