The Killing of Iraq's Ancient Marsh Culture. People opposed to the upcoming war with Iraq often gloss over what Hussein has done to his country and to his people. . .this is an environmental disaster of a scale equal to anything Bush is doing. . .and yet, nothing is said about it. . .Hussein poisoned lagoons, napalmed marshes. . .nothing is ever mentioned. . .seems like a serious travesty. . .and yet another reason why I don't feel sorry for him. . .If Bush drained the Florida Everglades and started napalming his own people, I think someone might notice. . .how is Hussein ignored? 9:27:40 PM What do you think? Instapundit writes about a story that you would think would get a little more coverage but doesn't because it has a happy ending. . .I understand that happiness doesn't sell newspapers or magazines or get viewers on TV but this is ridiculous. . .if this kid had killed just 3 or 4 of his classmates, the media would have converged on Arroyo Grande and camped out for days. . .at a time when our country needs good news stories about it's citizens standing up for what they believe, this story has been almost completely ignored. . .Would you have the courage to tackle someone with a 9mm pistol bent on killing you or those around you? Why is it such a pain in the ass to change my blogroll in Radio? Every time I want to add, remove, or reorganize a link, I have to update a text file on my server, then change my preferences to point to an old version of the blogroll.txt and then change it back to the one I just modified? Seems like it should be easier than this. . .I do what the help says to no avail. . .though I suppose if I'm going to bitch, I ought to just write my own. . . 7:44:01 AM What do you think? Connect, They Say, Only Connect I remember when chaos theory was the hottest thing going. . .now it seems to be networks. . .as humans, I think we have a driving need to make sense of our world so when a new theory is found that explains some things, we have a tendency to use it to overreach, looking for answers from the theory that aren't necessarily there. . .but network theory does sound intriguing. . . A favorite question of mine is how does one choose one's religious inclinations? Clearly it's not at random but is based on where you are born, what religion your parents are, what the predominant religion of your country is, etc. . . these could all be thought of as networks and what "node" you connect to is influenced by the rest of these networks. . . There would seem to be an implication for evolution in networks as well especially concerning the spread of a particular gene through the gene pool. . .
