100 things about me

"A person should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful that God has implanted in the human soul." - Goethe

Don't shoot the Messenger

The latest in IM popups.  It's been appearing every time I log onto MSN Messenger this weekend.  What a freakin' nuisance...grrrrrrrrrr.  That's two I've seen lately - the other being some college diploma stupid thing.  Please don't tell me it's gonna get worse...

Rare Map Collection
The Hargrett Library at the University of Georgia has a wonderful and rare collection of historic maps dating back 500 years including a New World map dated 1544.  You can also find wonderful maps of Colonial America, Revolutionary America and The American Civil War at their website.  Very cool.

Tiny tools

I have three very old handmade miniature tools that I've put up for sale on Ebay this weekend.  The little shovel & pick were hand carved, and such a neat folkart piece.  It's very old, and made from oak I think.  If I remember right, I picked all three of them up at an estate sale years ago.  Haven't a clue when they were made or even if by the same person, but I think they're great.  Maybe an antique tool collector will be interested.  We'll see.  I've linked the pics to the auctions if anyone wants more info.  The other sales are going well so far.  I've managed to pick up enough extra cash to pay the car insurance and had money to spend on Christmas presents yesterday!

Thieves Steal 2 Van Goghs From Museum

From Salon.com...

Dec. 7, 2002  |  AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP)

Thieves broke into Amsterdam's Van Gogh Museum overnight and stole two paintings by the 19th-century Dutch artist, police said Saturday.

A museum spokeswoman said the paintings were taken from the main exhibition hall where scores of Van Gogh's works were on display.  READ MORE.

The paintings. You know...in case you see them at a flea market or your neighbor's garage sale.
