Reading list

I have a new book to read! 
Sophie's World        

Scott gave it to me as a Christmas present, and I can't wait to start it.  I'm right smack in the middle of The Bondwoman's Narrative, which I'm loving, and finished up I Know This Much Is True last week (what an emotional trip that was...).  Typically I'm reading at least two books at once, so I've managed to digest the first couple of chapters of Sophie's World.  But since I think that one's gonna take my full attention, I'll wait a few days before I completely dive in.

Spyware, spam, and those damn popups

Reading this article in Spyware Info about Ad-Aware reminded me I haven't run it on my computer in quite a while.  I'm disappointed to hear that Lava Soft is no longer supporting Ad-Aware - I happen to think it's a great little utility.  Just a couple of months ago though, it mysteriously disappeared from my system entirely and I had to download it again.  Think I'll look for another spyware removal tool today.  I've tried several in the past and never found anything as easy or as free as Ad-Aware.  If anyone's using something other than Ad-Aware that they can recommend, let me know. 

While I'm on the subject of utilities, I gotta mention a program we downloaded to delete Spam in email.  MailWasher is very effective, and can be configured to include Hotmail.  The unregistered version is free. 

Scott looked high and low for a pop-up stopper that was easy to use and would cause the least amount of conflict with other programs we run, and came up with The Proxomitron.  It's also a free utility.  Works great!
