The Smartest State?

A new survey proclaims that Connecticut is the "smartest" state in the Union.  Based on what?  IQ? Performance?  No, it's based on the state's perceived commitment to education.  The title of the survey is ridiculous.  Many of the criteria are irrelevant and have more to do with demographics than anything else.  Utah ranked 17th in the survey, but was obviously hampered by low scores in demographic / finance related categories even though Gov. Leavitt has done as much as anyone to help address that situation.

In another survey by the same company, three Utah cities ranked in the top 27 as the nation's safest cities.  The criteria used in this survey correlate better to the survey title and description.

Internet Vulnerabilities
The FBI has released its list of the Twenty Most Critical Internet Security VulnerabilitiesThe list includes both Windows and Unix systems vulnerabilities.  It provides a useful tool that can be used as a checklist for system administrators as they review the security status of their systems.  We are quite familiar with most of these vulnerabilities and have taken steps to protect against them.
