Urban Sprawl
I am surprised that Salt Lake was ranked 61st out of 83 metro areas measured based on the degree of urban sprawl. The survey was performed by a group called Smart Growth America. Sounds a lot like the Envision Utah planning initiative supported by Governor Leavitt. Envision Utah is sponsoring a transit-oriented development (TOD) forum in November.   The Great American Station Initiative provides more information on TOD.

Protecting Privacy
The Privacy Journal says that Utah is in the second tier when it comes to protecting privacy. The journal says that California and Minnesota are preeminent in this area, but Utah is among those states which the publication rates as "above average." This obviously has more to do with law than it does with technology.
