The recent note about used CD stores generated quite a bit of feedback. The really interesting point is what is the position of the recording industry on secondary sales without coins falling into the accounts of the recording industry.
I don't find an official position of the RIAA on the subject, although they have been talking about requiring a tax on secondary sales.

Somehow I think it is time to create organizations and distribution channels that disintermediate the major record companies. I really believe that the musicians would end up making more in most cases and the public would pay less. There is also a chance that choice would be much greater.
It would be interesting if people would concentrate on buying and selling used CDs for a few months. If a 5% change showed up we would have the majors screaming and demanding their money. In the current game they can probably get it, but the current game is rigged. It is time to create a new game.
By the way - 100GB hard disks are approaching $100.
