A few of us have been chatting about wikis recently.

I agree with Clay Shirkey that the wikipedia is not a good example of a modern wiki. The wiki associated with Movable Type seems to be a better example.

For the physics crew out there .. Icarus Research has a neat piece of software for particle beam and optics modeling. It is a bit spendy (unless you have to do this for a living, in which case it is cheap), but there is a demo to let you play around. If you don't have OS X, the gallery gives you a sense of what this can do.

Years ago I visited Celebration, Florida on a business trip (imagine that) and was rather stuck (shocked actually) by the plastic cleanliness of the place. One always wonders how others see such endeavors - here is a BBC report.

And now Disney may pull out ... will people be willing to deal with democracy.

There are very few places that have disturbed me as much as this place.

____

While at Celebration we sometimes ate at the local Waffle House. In the past I've mentioned Top Secret Recipes - great little books that reverse engineer prepared foods (things like Big Macs and Twinkies). The author has a companion site and offers a recipe a week along with an archive..

Waffle House waffles.. somehow this doesn't make it as the experience of being in a Waffle House downing their orange juice and puzzling over their employment form while waffle house songs boom from the jukebox is part of the meal (especially at 3am).

Wayzen and I were chatting about this kind of food and I was reminded of something from bookstore trolling. Amazon carries it. Scan the sample pages.

Of course there are interesting ways to prepare such food.
