THE LAWLESS BUSH GANG Moscow Times: "There is no longer any question that the Bush Regime is going to cheat the living daylights out of the presidential election this November." Many Americans will never accept the above statement. However, there is enough proof of lying and cheating by the Bush clique. The Bush administration does not consider itself bound by any law. Truthout: "The Bush administration is ignoring, if not defying outright, the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling that all terror suspects must be able to challenge their imprisonment. The opening round of detainee military tribunals at Guantanamo Bay last week resembled something between a Mel Brooks farce and the kangaroo courts of former Ugandan dictator Idi Amin." Historically, the US has always bossed the show. Take Guantánamo for instance. The Lease Agreement from 1903 states that: "The United States of America agrees and covenants to pay to the Republic of Cuba the annual sum of two thousand dollars, in gold coin of the United States, as long as the former shall occupy and use said areas of land by virtue of said agreement." A treaty reaffirmed the lease in 1934. The agreement was forced onto Cuba and the US has assumed full powers over the area. The US considers this a perpetual lease. It's a matter of might against right. Cubasi: "However, since 1959 and the triumph of the Revolution, no cheque has ever been cashed. Since March of that year Cuba has demanded that the US return the base and has regularly had resolutions passed at the Non-Aligned Movement calling for the base to be returned." The US has no sovereignty over Guantánamo and the concentration camp there is an act of piracy. Even "US government lawyers are arguing that Guantanamo isn't American at all, that it really belongs to Cuba." This argument is, of course, only used with the purpose of preventing liability claims against the American administration. It still makes the activities there even more of an act of piracy for which the present American president is personally responsible. Another example of how the US is being militarized is this: "About 15 percent of the 4,800-plus delegates and alternates to the convention in New York are veterans, organizers said Monday.
