Kikkoman Explained

Just when you thought you had the "Show me!  Show you!" song out of your head, here's a link that tries to explain the song to us clueless folks.  Thanks to Daniel for finding the link.

I still want to know how this all came to be, whether or not this character is just something someone online came up with, or if Kikkoman is really a popular character/song used to promote soy sauce.

London Calling:  Day-by-Day

The trip to London is now only one week away.  Here is a rough breakdown of what we'll be doing day-by-day.  All of this is subject to change, but should give those who are going a good idea of what you're in for.

SUNDAY, 09 March - We'll arrive at the Gatwick airport on Sunday, 9 March, and from there by coach to the Princes Square Hotel.  All together we have 44 participants. Four groups from different parts of the US. The hotel is very near the Bayswater tube station (subway) on the northern side of the Hyde Park. It's a lovely area. After everyone gathers, we’ll go on a walking tour of the West End where we'll visit Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus. A dinner will follow.

MONDAY, 10 March -  Sightseeing of London from a coach (so we shall see some more famous sights) with a stopover at St Paul's cathedral; Later Windsor Castle (30 miles from London going west). One of the three castles which the Queen uses it throughout the year.  On the grounds there is the St George's Chapel. In the evening "The Reduced Shakespeare Company" (a well-written comedy). The theatre is in Piccadily Circus.

TUESDAY, 11 March - the morning is free, though we might schedule a trip to the Tower of London at that time.  At 13:45 a visit to the British Museum. Forty-four people signed up for it, so we shall have two guides. The Elizabethean Banquet in the evening at St Katharine Dock (very near the 1000-year-old Tower and the Tower Bridge where the medieval London used to be).

WEDNESDAY, 12 March - Stonehenge and Bath with a guide. Stonehenge is the mysterious pagan place decorated with huge stones set in a circle. Bath is a famous spa city, very elegant and its history goes back to the Roman invasion (43 AD). At the moment we've got 11 people and we need another 9 for the optional to run. The rest of the group shall have free time.  If this trip doesn't make, we can visit other sites in London in greater detail, like Westminster Abbey or the Tower of London.

THURSDAY, 13 March - the Globe Theatre tour and workshop, and in the evening The Woman in Black  (in the Fortune Theatre).

FRIDAY,14 March - A day trip to Stratford and Oxford. A group of 10 have paid for it and another 9 paid for the same with a theatre. Unfortunately the theatre in Stratford is closed until May, so maybe a London theatre performance will replace that (after our trip to Stratford and Oxford). But to be able to go to a London show we need 20 people, so we would need to find 11. Both cities are like open air museums.

SATURDAY, 15 March - Depart for St Louis/San Antonio from Gatwick.

Breakfast of Champions

One thing I love about weekends is that I have the time to eat a decent breakfast.  During the week I'm just so busy trying to get my classroom set-up for the day that I either don't eat anything, or just grab something on the way to work.

But no more!  I've found a quick and easy way to cram 1,030 calories worth of greasy goodness down my throat.  I present to you the Hungry Man All-Day Breakfast.  Only contains 231% of your recommended daily intake of cholesterol.  That sounds reasonable.

Read all about it in this absolutely hilarious article (after you've had breakfast, I hope).

And depending on when you read this, you might be stuck trying to come up with ideas for lunch or dinner.  Once again, I come to the rescue.  Consider some pork brains in milk gravy.  Only 1,070% of your recommended daily cholesterol intake.  Just like mom used to make!

Say Me, Say You

If you haven't noticed, I've added the ability for readers of this site to post comments about the articles you see here.  Just click on [ Comments ] after something you've read and fill out the form that pops-up.  Or if you just want to read what others have to say, click on [ Comments ] if you see a number after it.

Big thanks to Chris at Monosyllabically.com for showing me how to set all that up.
