That's My Girl

Frequent readers of this site might know I have a mild Jennifer Lopez fetish.  I've tried to remain faithful when all the while she's off with husbands (#1 & #2), boyfriends, gangstaz, and the like.  But now she might have gone too far.  She's not keeping it real, as she used to tell me.  She's not the same ol' girl I knew and loved back in the day.  Nope.  She's changed:

J-Lo's diva demands
February 28, 2003

IN her latest single, Jennifer Lopez insists she is still a down-to-earth girl "from the block".

But if her demands at a London hotel are anything to go by, there are plenty of divas living in her old neighbourhood.

Lopez flew into London this week for the premiere of her film Maid in Manhattan and checked into the Metropolitan Hotel with 60 pieces of luggage and a 20-strong entourage.

As most stars do, Lopez presented the hotel with a list of demands. That list has since been obtained by the London Sun – and dubbed the Jen Commandments.

The orders warn:

 NO hotel staff should attempt to talk to the superstar;

 WHEN room service is ordered, all food must be left outside her door and waiters must not enter the room;

 HER room must be decorated throughout with white lilies and a private gym must be set up in the penthouse;

 ONLY Cristal champagne, at $700 a bottle, can be served; and

 COPIOUS quantities of sushi and chocolate cake must also be available 24 hours a day.

Among Lopez's staff in London are make-up artists, hairdressers, diet specialists, public relations advisers, security staff and management.

They are reported to have racked up a $6000 room service bill at the Metropolitan Hotel in Park Lane and spent almost $30,000 in total.

Interestingly, in her latest movie, Lopez plays a humble chambermaid in an exclusive hotel who is forced to pander to the rich and famous.

Last night at the premiere J-Lo said: "The movie made me realise a lot of work goes into running a hotel."

Despite her diva reputation, Lopez did win over her fans by spending 20 minutes signing autographs before heading in to the premiere.

The Daily Telegraph

Even more bad publicity can be found here:  J-Lo doesn't like to walk.

And even more bad pub when Jenny can't pee among the common people.

Oh, where did Jennifer go wrong?  Umm...I've no clue.

By the way, Jennifer is in London.  I'll be in London the end of next week.  Coincidence?  I think not!

Hotel California

To provide further resouces for my students, here are some sites that discuss at varying degrees of depth the song "Hotel California."  Some will agree with what we talked about, some will wildly disagree, and others might take the song in a completely new direction.  And a couple will answer the most important question of all:  what the hell are "colitas"?

The Dead Horse Takes Another Kick Or Two

Back in 1996, Alanis Morissette won four Grammy's, including Best Album for Jagged Little PillHootie and the Blowfish were named Best New Artist.

Of course their careers really took off after that night...
