London Calling
For those lucky few going to London with me for Spring Break, here is a picture of the place we'll be staying for the week. It's called the Princes Square Hotel and it is located near the Notting Hill area of West London, Kensington Palace, and Hyde Park.
And although I told a few peple today that the trip to the Globe Theatre had been canceled, I found out this evening that we are now back to going. We will take the tour of the Globe, but we just won't be attending the workshop as originally planned. Instead we might be going to the British Theatre Museum. That's still to be worked out.
Here are a couple of websites that will tell you more about our hotel:
Remember, there is a meeting tomorrow night at 6:00pm in my classroom for those going!

To Further Prove My Point
Today back in 1981 Christopher Cross won five Grammy Awards, including Best Song, Best Album, Best Record, and Best New Artist. He set the record for most Grammy's won by a single person up to that time. He also won an Oscar for the theme song to Arthur. Then what happened to his career? He released a couple more albums that weren't anywhere near as big as the one that gobbled-up all the awards. His record label dumped him in 1988 and he's released only a couple of albums since then on smaller labels, the last one back in 1995. If you're a die-hard fan, you might be able to catch him performing at a Wal-mart opening soon.
So again, for those that missed last night's rant, the Grammy's are a hype machine that seem to not only pull-in huge numbers of viewers, but are also great at predicting the next has-been's, never-really-were's, and the never-will-be-again's. If I were Norah Jones, I'd be down at the pawn shop getting quotes on how much those six awards are worth. She might need the money someday.

Do You Know Your World?
If you're one of my students, the answer is probably a resounding "NO!" But on the off-hand chance you've been paying attention this past week, have a go at the Weekly World News Quiz provided by the BBC. Admittedly, some of the questions are pretty obscure, but if you know your world like I know your world, you should at least be able to make some educated guesses.
If not, Eenie Meenie Minie Moe works.
