Still Got That Valentine's Spirit Going I don't want to inspire too much jealousy, but the best Valentine's Day present I got at work today was a dancing skunk that sings "I'm Too Sexy" if you squeeze his foot.  That's his picture on the right.  Romantic, huh? Speaking of romance, if you have some spare time and a little love left in your heart, read some Unfortunate Valentine's Cards.  They may seem fake, but they're all true and sincere. For more honest to goodness weirdness, check out some creepy, yet entirely real, Valentine's Day cards.  They make the cards you gave out today pale in comparison, right? Finally, some rejected Valentine's Day cards.  Sometimes it's just too hard putting love into words.  Happy Valentine's Day! 8:09:02 PM     |

Hot or Not? The Hot or Not website has become very popular with my students this week (not to be confused with Hot 'n Not).  Maybe it has something to do with the whole Valentine's Day spirit.  Maybe it has something to do with puberty.  Maybe it has something to do with the sinister pleasure of letting someone know you think they're a "2" on a ten-point scale.  Whichever, several of my students take an inordinate amount of satisfaction in being about to decide with a single click how attractive someone else is. That said, how would you rate Marilyn Monroe if her picture was posted on the site?  I pose this question because if you browse through Hot or Not for awhile, you may be surprised at what type of person gets a high rating.  Both women and men of decidedly skanky appearance consistently draw high scores.  Show a few abs or a little cleavage, and your rating is almost guaranteed to soar.  Doesn't say much for the depth of our society (or at least the regulars of Hot or Not), does it?  If Hot or Not doesn't satisfy all your rating needs, there are other places to surf over to.  Here's some suggestions: Rate My Kitten Rate My Poo (not for the easily disgusted) Rate My Teachers (Yep, I'm on there) Rate My Ink (tattoos) Rate My Lawn and Garden Rate My Mullet 6:50:49 PM     |
