If You Ever Need A Role Model
For those of you out of the know, Lance Armstrong won his fifth straight Tour de France today, perhaps the toughest sporting event in the world.
I don't know about you, but I have a tough time riding twenty miles on a bike. I can't even imagine what its like racing over 2,000 miles through rain, over mountains, and torturous heat. Plus, I've never had cancer, I've never crashed while racing, and I've never had to put up with a whole country hoping I don't succeed in what I want to accomplish most.
Lance Armstrong not only overcame all of that, but he's overcome all of those obstacles five years in a row.
So in a world of selfish athletes, many who are in it just for the money, the sex, or the fame, it is refreshing to know there's at least one man out there who is in it simply because he loves it, and that after very nearly dying of cancer a few years ago, he appreciates life, period.
So if you need a role model, not just for sports, but life in general, you can't do much better than Lance Armstrong.
