Spend It Like Beckham
Must be nice to have the kind of money that David Beckham has. After being sold to Real Madrid, he's been living in a hotel while he and his wife look for a home in Spain. In eleven weeks, Beckham has racked up over one million dollars in hotel charges.
That's almost $13,000 a day. Over $500 of that a day is room service. I know that hotel food can be pricey, but Holy Crap! Doesn't this place at least offer free breakfast?
While his bill includes $43,600 for room service, it also has an equal amount for parking. Since when does parking cost $500 a day? What is he parking, the Titanic?
Beyond room service, the restaurant bill is $131,000! Over $1,700 a day. That's more than I pay in monthly rent for my house. Sure he might have a few friends by and take care of the bill for them, but c'mon. Some of his buddies need to at least help out with the tip.
But hey, Beckham is getting his new team to pick up most of the tab, and the rest of the cash he can probably dig out from under the cushions of his couch, so I'm not going to knock him. We all know we'd be doing exactly the same if we could. We just can't bend it like he can, though a few of us can certainly twist it into some odd shapes.
