Clear Blue Sky

The moment that Franklin and I have been waiting for has arrived.  Finally I have live TV being broadcast into my home.  I've been living in this house since late August, but have only just today gotten Sky satellite service hooked-up.  Worth the wait?  Well, soon as we fired it up, the first thing I see on my television was the San Antiono Spurs vs the Indiana Pacers.  You wouldn't believe the smile that put on my face.

Almost didn't get hooked-up today.  The weather has been absolute crap the past two weeks, and this morning was no exception.  About 10 minutes after Joe Satellite climbed up on my roof, the rain came.  Rain + 34 degrees temperature + wind = Joe stranded on top of my house.  I had to open up the bathroom window upstairs so he could clamber through.  After much soul-searching, he decided to risk climbing back on my roof so that he wouldn't have to reschedule me later this month.  Luckily he was able to do it, and in the wind and freezing rain he managed to get my dish pointed in the right direction, and like magic, I had the NBA on my TV.

So now I have more channels than I know what to do with.  The online TV guide doesn't even do it justice.  There are many channels not listed on their website that I can watch here.  And just like the digital cable I had back at the states, this comes with menus to view what is on and to program future events.  Thing is I'm not too familiar with British programming, so it'll take me awhile to figure out what certain shows are, what channels I'll like, and when things I'll want to see (for instance this particular NBA game ) are likely to be on.  Also need to get used to watching live English, Spanish, Italian, and German football.  I'd always had to watch tape-delayed matches back in the states, but no longer.  It'll be fantastic watching the games with commentators who really know the sport.

Ever since I found out I was moving to Europe, I wanted Sky network.  It cost a small fortune to get it installed today, but already it is paying off.  The British commercials are hilarious, the channel selection is wonderful, and I now this living room is feeling more like home.  And with Monday off from work, this is going to be a great TV weekend.
