Better To Give Than Receive
I've been pre-approved for all sorts of things, mainly credit cards and personal loans. Now while I deeply appreciate the approval these loan sharks have of me, there comes a time when I want to show my disapproval of their jamming up of my mailbox. Same goes for magazine subscription offers to magazines I don't read, sweepstakes I never entered but have apparently already won, requests for political campaign contributions for politicians I would never want representing me, depressing photos of malnurished children from places I've never heard of, and anything else I neither asked for, nor have been wanting to scratch out a check to.
So here's what I do. I take the postage paid return envelope these items of junk mail invariably come packaged with, take the glossy advertising from another random junk mail provider and stuff it into the envelope of the first junk mailer, and then drop the envelope into a mailbox. Then vice versa. That way the credit card company can hear from the sweepstakes company, the politician can get a new subscription offer for Playboy, and the feed the starving kids folks can find out how easy it is to land an unsecured personal loan.
Frankly, I think it works out perfectly for all involved.
That and those pre-paid envelopes will start to get expensive after awhile. Maybe if enough of us do this, they'll stop.
Now if we can just figure out a way to do this to the email spammers...
