In Other News, Ice Isn't Cold

The guy on the left is Armin Meiwes.  He is currently on trial in Germany for arranging over the internet to meet another guy, kill the other guy, and then eat the other guy.  Armin actually went through with it (and so did the other guy who had his mind -- such as it was -- set on being dinner), and has admitted to it in gory detail, but according to "expert" testimony, Armin is perfectly sane.  Two so-called experts have judged him to be in good mental health.  Here's part of the story as reported by CNN:

KASSEL, Germany (AP) -- A German computer expert being tried for murder after he confessed to killing and eating a man shows no signs of mental illness, a court-appointed expert has testified at his trial.

Klaus Beier, a psychotherapist and sexologist based at Berlin's Charite hospital, told the Kassel state court Monday that defendant Armin Meiwes' fascination with cannibalism had developed from an early age and Meiwes, a loner, had seen it as a way of "being close" to men.

However, "I have never found any indication of psychological disturbance," during examinations of Meiwes, Beier told the court.

"Never found any indictation..."  Huh?  What kind of indication does Mr. Beier need?  Armin placed a personal ad looking for another well-built guy "for slaughtering."  Armin ate, digested, and presumably pooped the guy who responded to the ad.  He did it and wanted to do it again.  Since when does this sort of behavior not indicate you're out of your f-ing mind?  I think someone better check into what the pyschotherapist had for dinner last night since he seems to find nothing odd about Armin's diet.

Bet the doc would find plenty to indicate this guy is perfectly stable as well.
