The Fonts They Are A Changin'
I like fonts. I really do. I've been known to spend an inordinate amount of time choosing just the right font for the title of one of my assignments or exams I write for my classes. In my opinion, the font must enhance the paper it is on, not overwhelm or distract from it.
Damn, I sound like one of those Queer Eye guys.
That said, I didn't know there was an official font of the United States government. Apparently Courier New 12 was the only font to be used by the US State Department for international diplomacy. But that has now changed. From here on out it must be Times New Roman 14.
Holy crap! This must be sending shockwaves through the font world.
Now I'm feeling paranoid. Perhaps there's some official font of the blogging world that I'm unaware of and I've been pissing off the establishment all this time. I know that I head my posts with a larger, bold typeface than the rest of the article it titles. Is that a font faux pas? Am I secretly the subject of ridicule amongst the font elite?
This sucks. Talk about not getting any sleep tonight.
Memo to self: Investigate proper font conventions and protocol. And If I'm using the wrong font now, I apologize from the bottom of my 14 point size heart.
Quick font joke:
A group of fonts walk into a bar and the barman says, "Hey! We don't want your type round here!"
