Old School
Back when I was all of six years old, the original Star Wars movie dominated my life. I had the action figures. I had the bed sheets. I had the posters. I had the comic books. I even belonged to the official fan club and had the official pencil they sent you to prove it.
In short, I was a Star Wars dork.
Now, many years later, the whole Star Wars lifestyle is a thing of my past. Sure I went and saw the most recent Episodes 1 & 2 (huge disappointments, by the way), and sure I'll probably end up buying the original trilogy on dvd when the set comes out next week, but I just can't get myself all jazzed up about a galaxy far, far away anymore like I used to. And that's sad, really -- losing that joy you once found in something.
All that said, I did get a kick out of watching the Ascii version of the original Star Wars called Star Wars Asciimation. Hilarious in a very low-tech sort of way. Takes me back to the early days of the internet when folks would create elaborate asciii pictures to add to their email signature files. Some people have way more time than I'll ever have.
So if you have a few minutes, especially if you know the first Star Wars by heart, fire up Star Wars Asciimation and be entertained for awhile.
