This cell phone jammer looks just like a cell phone and is ideal for use when commuting on the bus and train or when eating in restaurants etc, anywhere where you need effective control at close quarters! With this cell phone jammer switched on in your pocket you will be able to silence those anti-social types who insist on using their mobile phones in the most indiscrete way, the beauty is that they will not know it is you that has switched them off!, all they will see is that their signal has dropped on their phone. When you have had your meal or enjoyed your coffee in peace and quiet, you can then switch off your phone jammer and continue on your way completely stress free.
They have one that works in the USA. Gadget wars are coming....

JOEL JOHNSON -- Wal-Mart's music download service launches today with a per-song charge of 88 cents. With 30-second previews and DRM-locked files (including the ability to authorize 2 additional computers and make 10 burns to a CD), it looks a lot like a web-based iTunes Music Store clone--not a bad... [Gizmodo]
Does anybody really believe that a virtual record store will rip artists off less than a brick and mortar store? I have news for you, the income still flows through the record company's bookkeeping department and real and imaginary expenses will be deducted...

"While seemingly indestructible, the ocean is a fragile eco-system. It's increasingly under threat from over-fishing, coastal development, and pollution. On this edition of Making Contact, we'll take a look at the over-all health of the ocean today, along with a close-up of the impact of cruise ships and shrimp farming."This is the Making Contact show that features Dr. Sylvia Earle. Audio bits that didn't make it into the show can be found on Coral Reef Report.

Ebony, pine, fir, lignum vitae... Once they were trees; now they're a guitar. And they're still alive today in the guitarist's hands. The particular sound of the guitar depends on factors like where and how these trees grew, or the temperature and humidity the wood was exposed to once the tree had been cut. And, of course, on the meticulous craftsmanship during the thirty days of work that go into the making of the guitar. Guitarras Giralda, founded in 1998, opens the doors of its workshop to show step-by-step how the metamorphosis occurs.
Continued at above link. Nice introduction to guitar building. With photos.
Thanks James.

I have used this programmable metronome for many years. A nice tool, although I am using my iPod as a metronome more and more. Still, for those tempi that I don't have on my iPod, the MundoBeat is excellent.

Flamenco + Pyro
A picture named Blanca1.jpg
It's a little small, but maybe you can see this. Lester burnt the ends of the top three strings so they can't slip out of the double holes I had requested for the new guitar. Pyro and Flamenco, what a great combo!

In some ways this is the heart of the Prius, a touch-screen in the center of the dash. Here you can watch the interplay between the electric motor and the conventional gasoline engine, check your consumption, view the GPS screen and get directions, change audio preferences for the stereo as well as initiate phone calls with your bluetooth enabled cellphone. Most of the controls are reflected in the steering wheel, where you can accept a call or hang up your phone, skip a track on the CD you are listening to, or press a button to view the GPS map - all without letting go of the wheel. I am telling you, this is one geeked-out car.

Spruce tops are more common in classical guitars. They take a while to get broken in, about a year or two, and last a long time.

Flamenco guitars used to have mostly cedar tops. Who has the time to break in a spruce top, or who has the money to afford two guitars! Cedar tops sound great right away, but may not last as long.

Nowadays you can find more spruce tops on Flamenco guitars, especially in combination with rosewood sides and back. Maybe another reason for having more spruce tops is the ready availability of German Spruce tone woods. I personally prefer cedar tops, which I have on all of my guitars.

There is an interesting trend in Spain, where both Paco DeLucia and Tomatito are selling branded guitars.
