Remembering two friends PERSONALBLOG: I am thinking of two friends. One I know very well and am thinking of her because today is her birthday. The other I didn't know as well but rode with him and knew of him through his associations with other friends.
Jeanette Glicksman (a.k.a. Ginny)
Ginny and I go way back. We have been friends over a dozen years. We have had several great memories of some fun adventures we have shared as friends. She has been a friend, a sounding board, a confidant and she helped me make some important decisions a long time ago. When I first got to know her she was a photojournalism student at SJSU and I was a single parent after the death of my first wife. As a student she was one of those rare students who made an astounding impression on the whole school. When she graduated, then University President Handle Evans stopped giving out diplomas to other students and gave her a hug. Not only is Ginny smart she is gorgeous. My then girlfriend was terribly jealous of my friendship with her. Since then, like me, Ginny has married. Sue and I are friends with her and her husband Laurence. He is a really nice guy. They have two beautiful children, George and Audrey. They have moved to the east coast and I miss them a lot. Jim Owen
Jim was just a great guy. Jim died of a massive heart attack last weekend while on a bike ride. He was young, too young to die. Jim was gentile, happy, friendly; a real pleasure to be around. I am sorry I will never be able to know him better. He was dearly loved by his friends. Conclusion
Times like this remind us of what is important. The preciousness of friendship and the fragility of life. Dear friends are not something to take for granted.
