Fighting a little bout of startitis

You must be hard up...tea cozies?
Short and stout: A little bored with the second sock (isn't that always the way?), I cast on for Bev Galeskas' felted tea cozy from Felted Knits. I'm knitting this for a friend in Westcliffe who's starting an interior design/home accessories business and wanted tea cozies in her collection. She adores this particular shade of green--the closest match I could find was Lamb's Pride "Khaki"--and has designed a ceramic tea set in the above color combo. She wants a striped cozy too, but with Galeskas' short-row shaping...I may have to design my own--I'm thinking ChicKami shaping as tea cozy! (Bonne, I bet you're dying to get into the tea cozy business.)
Daily rant: This makes me writhe. A new study reported that one in five Coloradans has a mental illness and of those only one-third currently get help. (FYI: These people don't just feel puny, they have DSM-IV diagnosable diseases and suffer horribly as a result.) In 2001 Colorado ranked 31st in the nation with regard to mental health funding and since then spending has plummeted 17 percent. In 2004 an additional 10,000 to 18,000 Coloradans will lose mental health treatment due to budget cuts. Mental illness isn't about weakness of will or minor character flaws, it's about illness--many of which are treatable. What is it going to take people? Another Columbine?
