Anthropologie: Anthropologie, which is owned by Urban Outfitters, has totally co-opted shabby chic to create these lifestyle boutiques--OK, lifestyle citadels of commerce--that have transformed flea market treasures into high-end acquisitions. How brilliant is that? Wish I had bought stock in the company a year ago when I started muttering about it.
If you're a sweater gawker (and I know you are) run to your nearest brick-and-mortar Anthropologie and check out the knit goods. If you don't have one in a town nearby, surf the web site. You'll find some of the most creative sweaters on the market. Feather-and-fan stitch cardies. Pullovers embellished with ribbons. Vintage styling. Cute, cute, cute. Like this one...
