Today was a cool and overcast day, which usually lends to higher speeds since normally-aspirated engines produce more horsepower at cooler temperatures. (Best-case scenario is with temps in the 60's, as temps lower than that make for cold-tire problems). The fact athat we've seen a 229 on the first day, before the teams have even begun to trim the cars out, could mean that speeds around 235 might not be out of the question on Pole Day next Saturday.

Rick Stillwell has a great post over at blogs4God..
I think people in general, and Christians in particular, are often too willing to just pat someone on the back in a discourse or argument rather than analyze it critically and offer objections. Now, I grant that this isn't easy, and I think we legitimately fear upsetting other people, but I think loving and respectful (emphasis on those) criticism is an important part of our thought life and our relationships.
Of course, it's not easy on the ego to take correction/criticism, and that's certainly something I need to come to grips with as much as anything, but I would certainly prefer honesty over contrived back-patting any day.
