Song of the Day:  "Yo Tengo" - Silage

It's just super-stereophonic....

Yes, we've moved beyond Ken's Cleaning Out the CD Drawer Day; it's now dawned on Ken's Cleaning Out the Cassette Drawer Day.  It's too bad I can't bring myself to actually get rid of this stuff; I bet they could have a heck of a bonfire at the next travelling tent revival with all the CD/tape cases in my drawers/boxes/closet.  (That's a little tongue-in-cheek humor for ya....)

If you're wondering how I managed to make a post a day into the future...I don't know either

My computer clock went awry again.

Problem fixed now.

Oh, the time I waste in ignoble pursuits.

I'm almost afraid to put my age on here, for fear that any straggler passing by would stumble in and be shocked at how unlearned and immature I am for someone my age.

Anyway, more racing posts to come later, I guess.  :-)

I'm not a big fan of golf either as a spectator or participant sport.  (Truth be told, I would probably struggle to hit a golf ball five feet, if given the opportunity.  But this story has captured my attention, and only peripherally because it involves golf.

Swede Annika Sorenstam will be the first woman to participate in a men's professional tour event since..a long time ago (it's in the article.)  And some of the boys aren't happy about it

I say, more power to Sorenstam.  It's about time a stick-and-ball sport decided to do a gender-related deal properly.

Song for the Day:  "Never Felt this Way Before" - The Billions

Quickie Book Review - Enjoying God by S.J. Hill

Just wroapped up this fine product of the Relevant Books folks, though it was very borken up over a month and a half's time.  The book itself isn't lengthy, at just over 130 pages, but it's divided down into very digestable pieces, which are meant to be taken in slowly.  Indeed, patience is a major emphasis in the closing pages of the book, when Hill urges the reader to dilligently wait for God, and that, even in the "dark nights of the soul" are the times when God is expressing His faithfulness to us the most.

The overriding theme here is an exhortation to relish and find pleasure in an intimate relationship with the Father God.  This in itself is not terribly groundbreaking, and Hill is probably aware of this, but he presents it in such a soothing, fatherly way that compels the heart to explore his essays more deeply.

This book was especially important to me, a dyed-in-the-wool, hard-headed rationalist who tries to break everything down into mind-tangible concepts, rather than releasing them and immersing myself in God.  I have a difficult time understanding God on a personal, heart level as opposed to a philosophical, mind level.

Enjoying God pours new water on much-treaded ground and springs up great new vegitation.  Put it on my highly-recommended list.
