"The end of it all is to have more of our own species"

Washington Post on modern flirting.  Out with the new, in with the old?

To flirt is not to endorse old caricatures of eyelid-batting and feigned helplessness.

Instead, think of a woman signaling a man she wants to get to know using gestures that are universal: the slightly upward side glance (remember Princess Diana), the half-smile, the light touch of one finger on the forearm. And we're talking lively, smart conversation on dozens of topics. "Any woman can flash skin," says Southern author Ronda Rich, "but the most irresistible damsel is the one who seduces and flirts with a sharp, knowledgeable mind."

Well, beyond my canned response "I wouldn't know" it's a seductive article (in the strictly platonic sense, of course, "of course).  And even some rationality from the evolutionary biology angle.  Didn't I tell you so before?

Box it up.  Mail it in.

Link of the Week

Pay a visit to the Society of Christian Philosophers home page.

They had their Midwest conference here in Bloomington last year, and I totally missed it, because no one (conveniently or not) told me about it.

I've become suspicious and wary of everything.  It comes from being a shut-in, I think.
